About this Cultivar

The cultivar reaches 6 to 8 metres in height with a spread of 3 to 5 metres, forming a rounded, well-branched crown that reads clearly as a specimen even in winter silhouette. Growth is slow, building structural character over time rather than filling space quickly. The deciduous foliage is mid-green through summer, and autumn colour is modest, making the tree's primary seasonal contribution its spring flowering rather than a late-season display.

'Yellow River' flowers in early spring before leaf break, producing solitary, upright, cup-shaped blooms in pale yellow to cream-yellow. Individual flowers measure approximately 12 to 15 cm across and carry a light lemon fragrance detectable at close range.
