About this Cultivar

This cultivar reaches 15 to 20 metres in height with a spread of 8 to 12 metres, forming a dense pyramidal crown that broadens with age. The persistent foliage is large, thick, and glossy dark green on the upper surface, with a distinctive rusty-brown indumentum beneath. The combination of leaf size, density, and year-round retention makes it effective as a visual screen or as a structural element in formal compositions. Solitary white flowers, cup-shaped and fragrant, open from June through August and can measure up to 25 cm across.

As a European-origin selection within the species, 'Gallisoniensis' has a long track record in southern European horticulture. The species tolerates a range of soil types, including acidic, sandy, and clay substrates, provided drainage is adequate. It performs well in full sun and accepts partial shade.
