The hue reads as flame or live coal rather than deep burgundy, and it holds through the summer months without the dulled bronze that affects Bloodgood under hot dry conditions. The leaf is regular palmate, five to seven lobed, and not the laceleaf form of the Dissectum group; the habit is upright and rounded, never weeping.

Mature dimensions sit at 3 to 4 m in height and spread, placing this cultivar in the focal specimen role rather than the structural canopy role. Growth rate is slightly above the average for purple cultivars at around 20 to 25 cm per year in favourable conditions, advancing the timeline to project calibre. The trunk and crown architecture remain clean and erect, suitable for the central setting of a walled garden in Sintra or Cascais, a contained patio in Greater Lisbon, or a deep-section planter on a Comporta or Tróia terrace where root volume is controlled.

Climate performance in Portuguese conditions is conditional on partial shade. Across the Atlantic strip from the Silver Coast down to Cascais and the Setubal peninsula, the diffuse coastal light supports full leaf integrity through summer; from Greater Lisbon south into the Alentejo coast and the central Algarve, supplementary screening from a higher canopy or an east-facing wall becomes necessary. In the interior Alentejo and the hotter Algarve, full exposure produces marginal scorch and a dulling of the red. Hardiness reaches approximately -15 degrees C without damage to mature wood, covering every Portuguese climate zone the buyer is likely to be specifying for.

The soil envelope is narrow. The cultivar requires an acidic to mildly acidic, free-draining substrate rich in organic matter; the alkaline limestone soils common across much of Greater Lisbon trigger iron chlorosis and stunted development, which restricts unmodified ground specification and pushes the cultivar into corrected pits or large planters in those contexts. Disease resistance is moderate, with watchfulness required against Verticillium on poorly drained sites and against scale insects under sustained drought stress. Autumn colouring carries the summer fire through to orange and scarlet, holding into late November under Atlantic conditions and providing a defensible seasonal interest claim for a project specification (caderno de encargos) where autumn colour is a programme criterion.
