Ver #crm-lotes mais abaixo. #}Where a project calls for an evergreen structural shrub with year-round presence, this Fraser photinia (Glanzmispel) earns its place through dense foliage, dependable response to shaping, and a brilliant cherry-red flush at each new growth cycle.

About this Cultivar
The cultivar holds a bushy, broadly upright habit, typically reaching 3 to 4 metres in height with a spread of 2 to 3 metres in established cultivation, and 4 to 8 metres only after long, unpruned development. Leathery, finely serrated leaves emerge bronze to cherry-red and mature through two to three weeks to glossy dark green; selective spring or summer pruning triggers additional red flushes, which is why the cultivar is the dominant Photinia × fraseri selection used as a clipped Heckenpflanze or topiary subject.
Winter hardiness (Winterhärte) corresponds to reliable performance to approximately minus 15 degrees Celsius in sheltered positions on free-draining soil; minus 10 to minus 12 degrees Celsius is the more conservative working limit on open, exposed sites. The cultivar performs dependably in the Oberrheingraben (Upper Rhine valley), the Niederrheinische Bucht (Lower Rhine basin), and the milder maritime fringe of the norddeutsche Tiefebene (Northern German lowlands), and…

Winter hardiness (Winterhärte) corresponds to reliable performance to approximately minus 15 degrees Celsius in sheltered positions on free-draining soil; minus 10 to minus 12 degrees Celsius is the more conservative working limit on open, exposed sites. The cultivar performs dependably in the Oberrheingraben (Upper Rhine valley), the Niederrheinische Bucht (Lower Rhine basin), and the milder maritime fringe of the norddeutsche Tiefebene (Northern German lowlands), and across the Köln, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, and Stuttgart conurbations. It becomes marginal in continental Klimaregionen east of the Elbe and above 400 metres in the voralpenland (pre-Alpine foothills), where it asks for a sheltered south- or west-facing position; the first two to three winters are the principal risk window before wood matures.
For site requirements (Standortansprüche), it accepts loam, sand, and chalk across the full acid-to-alkaline pH range, on moist but well-drained or simply well-drained substrates; it is sensitive to waterlogging and to overhead watering, which encourage Entomosporium leaf spot. Full sun to partial shade gives the strongest red flush and the cleanest foliage; deep shade reduces flowering and increases foliar disease pressure. 'Red Robin' carries reportedly improved resistance to Entomosporium maculatum relative to the species, which has shaped its current dominance in European landscape use, but fireblight (Feuerbrand) and powdery mildew remain to be watched.
Functional role on a German project is principally hedging, screening, and formal structure: clipped hedges of two to three metres, mass plantings as evergreen framework, and trained standards as accent specimens. The white corymbs are ornamentally secondary and carry an unpleasant scent, often removed by the same pruning that drives the red flush.
